The International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA) invites researchers, practitioners, Indigenous representatives, students, and others to submit proposals for the 12th International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS XII).

The University of Akureyri plays a key role in organizing the event.

Thursday May 7th at 13:00, the Head of Greenland Representation in Reykjavik, Karsten Peter Jensen, visits Akureyri to give a lecture at the University of Akureyri, where he reviews the country's political history to the present day.

The Stefansson Arctic Institute and the Environmental Council of the University of Akureyri co-host the 6th Sustainability Conference in 2026 on the 10th of April and will present the second Stefansson Student Sustainability Award, worth 40,000 ISK.

The annual sustainability conference at the University of Akureyri will be held for the 6th time on 10. April 2026. Abstract submission deadline is 14 January 2026.
