The Stefansson Arctic Institute and the Environmental Council of the University of Akureyri co-host the 6th Sustainability Conference in 2026 on the 10th of April and will present the second Stefansson Student Sustainability Award, worth 40,000 ISK.
We ask students who
to apply for the award by submitting their thesis by 10 March 2026 to yvonne@unak.is. The thesis does not need to be in its final form; hence, students who will graduate in 2026 are also eligible to apply if they have a first draft of their thesis ready by the deadline.
A jury composed of members of the environmental council and the Stefansson Arctic Institute will review all submissions. The awardee is expected to present their research in a 10-minute oral presentation at the 6th sustainability conference at the University of Akureyri on the 10th of April where the award ceremony will also take place. The presentation can be held online.
