A new grant has been awarded to the University of Akureyri through the Arctic Research and Studies Programme 2023–2026, administered by the Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannís). The programme provides preparatory funding to promote and strengthen cooperation between Iceland and Norway in the field of Arctic science.
The grant will fund the development of an international project to investigate Arctic security and community resilience by examining the effects of the use and development of dual-use technologies in the region.
Adam Fishwick, Research Director at the University of Akureyri, will lead the project, working with Tom Barry, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Akureyri and Acting Director of the Stefansson Arctic Institute, and Katharina Glaab at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
