Nansen Professorship in Arctic Studies 2017/2018

The University of Akureyri is accepting applications for the Nansen visiting professorship based on a cooperation between the governments of Iceland and Norway. The professorship is awarded to individuals to conduct their research on Arctic issues on common interest between Iceland and Norway. For the 2017/2018 scholarship the selection committee seeks a candidate interested in contributing a year to focus their research effort on technological, legal, political or social issues related to the Arctic with special emphasis on issues that are shared between Iceland and Norway, with examples such as natural resource management, climate change, resource extraction and governance in the Arctic.

IASC Medal Award 2017

IASC Medals are awarded in recognition of exceptional and sustained contributions to the understanding of the Arctic. A maximum of one award is made each year, assuming that there is a nominee of appropriate quality. The award of medals is normally by the President of IASC during the Arctic Science Summit Week (or exceptionally at another major international meeting) following the ratification of the award.
