An exposition on Stefansson’s research and travels can be found in more than 20 books and approximately 400 articles and book chapters which he wrote. Much of his work was published in several languages, among them Hunters of the Great North, which was published in seven languages. Stefansson’s writings connect in various subjects within natural science and humanities. His field of interest was so diverse, and to some they seemed quite heterogeneous. To mention some, he wrote books about health, nourishment and philosophy besides the many articles about the exploitation of the Arctic areas and exploring of the same. Other authors have also written about Stefansson’s life and work.
